Lumber Jake and his smashing cake is ONE

Turning one is to much fun! From simple and sweet to cake smash treats.

 

I love watching my clients family grow this is my clients 3rd child.  I was so lucky to have done this sweet little boys newborn session and now he is ONE. I started the session simple and sweet. Using the pure white side of my studio for a nice sweet and pure organic look

 His birthday theme was LUMBER JACK and with his name being Jake I immediately dubbed his session LUMBER JACK. I brought the outdoors in by including these baby live pine trees on the exposed brick side of my studio.

and…. of course there is nothing like ending a ONE years session with an EPIC cake smash.

How amazing is the white birch cake ! ? !

Looks like it was pretty tasty too 😉

I admit … I am lagging behind in blogging – I am trying to catch up. Most of all It being winter and a new year I am actually taking a little time for myself and family. I am still working . I just cut back for the next month or so. For example of how behind in life I got – these photos of my son were taken in July ( 2017) for his 6th birthday YIKES ! I mean … poor kid turns 7 in April and were just month’s away from his next birthday I thought I better get caught up – ha ha .

Truth is … I put my clients first – always. So even though I go out and take photos for fun or for my family those typically come last.

He is the sweetest , most loving caring boy. He loves adventure, building and creating.

When creating this theme for my son it came so natural. He was really into creating paper airplanes – His love for adventure brought me to creating the paper airplanes out of maps. This is what my child sessions are all about ( The magic within sessions) The are all about the child. Some more organic than others …some more elaborate.

Of course … Mama has to play with the light while out. The sun was on my side that night wanting to play & dance with us while we scurried around throwing paper airplanes , giggling and talking about our summers adventures.

We didn’t want the day to end … however, all great things must come to an end …so as the sun softly and slowly fell in the sky we took those last moments to play a little bit more. All of his sweet expressions tug at my heart strings … this is how I see him all the time.
