Lumber Jake and his smashing cake is ONE

Turning one is to much fun! From simple and sweet to cake smash treats.

 

I love watching my clients family grow this is my clients 3rd child.  I was so lucky to have done this sweet little boys newborn session and now he is ONE. I started the session simple and sweet. Using the pure white side of my studio for a nice sweet and pure organic look

 His birthday theme was LUMBER JACK and with his name being Jake I immediately dubbed his session LUMBER JACK. I brought the outdoors in by including these baby live pine trees on the exposed brick side of my studio.

and…. of course there is nothing like ending a ONE years session with an EPIC cake smash.

How amazing is the white birch cake ! ? !

There is a secret garden where miracles and magic abound, and it’s available to anyone who makes the choice to visit there. 

 

It’s no surprise that I love creating magic. I love shooting and story telling is in the heart of all my images. Wanderlight was created from 3 passionate photographers that bonded over photography and teaching. Now, we are great friends and bond over much more.

This go around my dear friend Sarah and I decided to host our very first petite workshop in our studio 415 .

We were so excited to have Vintage Alley , Shoot proof and Color Inc. contribute to the workshop. Photographers came in from near and far.

I am just absolutely in love with this set. We rented the doors form vintage alley and used our own greenery purchased from local craft stores . Our little model looked like a fairy.

When it rains look for rainbows. When it’s dark for for stars.

 

It was a perfect day to be in the studio on this Pittsburgh rainy day playing with the stars.

If you are looking for high quality tulle dresses Little Dreamers tutu : Whitney is your girl. I am so impressed with this dress in so many ways. The bodice is so soft on the inside, the sequins are not rough on their little arms, the tulle is so easy to fixed doesn’t seem to bunch as quickly as some cheap tulle I have dealt with other named dresses.
My girls seriously love this dress so much that Harlow even wanted to wear it to school today

Number 1 why you should print your photos through your photographer

Below is an example why I believe it’s best to print through your photographer. I had a client reach out to me because she was ready to place her gallery order. One of the images she requested was a 16×20 wrapped canvas. When I dropped the image into my lab I was super unhappy with the crop and knew right away I had to make this right. I took the photo into photoshop and did the necessary editing to make sure that when I dropped it back into the 16×20 canvas it would wrap nicely. In addition to do that I also made the necessary retouching I felt the canvas needed to make sure it would look it’s best at the 16×20 size.

The problem that most clients do not understand is these extra steps that unfortunately are unable to do. Even if you are experienced in photoshop

1. You are not supposed to retouch your files

2. We have the original file size so we can work on the raw file without harming the image in quality.

This is a grand example. I know that sometimes you look at the prices and think YIKES I can just go print this myself through a big box company and save $100’s of dollars. However, you are only hurting yourself. Again, I do additional post process work to assure that your image looks it’s best at the size you are wishing to print. I make sure the crop if correct – sometimes even when an image “fits” – sometimes it can use additional love to make sure it top quality – as it should be !

My professional labs I use will print the images in the quality they are meant to be. The paper is UV safe ( safe form fading). The color corrections are correct.

When you use big box store the quality gets hacked , the ink they use is not top quality , the paper is typically not UV safe and they slap on their own color correction further more ruining your image that you paid top dollar for.
